On city's auction block: Cars, equipment, even a garbage truck

Frustrated enough with your trash service that you’re willing to buy your own garbage truck? Here’s your chance. The city is putting a garbage truck and more than 100 other vehicles from its impound lot on the auction block Saturday morning. The city auctions about 400 cars a year from its impound lot, “plus whatever equipment the city has that’s too old or worn-out,” said Jim Gill, auctioneer for Russ Kiko Associates, which conducts the city’s auctions about four times a year. “Each sale has about 110 or 120 cars, including their own property.” About $300,000 a year goes back into the ...

Kiko Company will hold an auction Friday in a twist on the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for the local ALS Association chapter.  The auction will begin around 5:30 p.m. at Kiko’s office at 2722 Fulton Drive NW. Dalton Schools Auction Draws Quite the Crowd

Twenty minutes after the auction of surplus items at Dalton Intermediate School began, bidders were still registering. More than 200 bidders gathered at the former school Wednesday to grab surplus items from the intermediate school and Dalton and Kidron elementary schools.   The schools, which closed at the end of the 2013-14 school year, were replaced with a new kindergarten through eighth-grade building.  The district received state funding from the Ohio School Facilities Commission to construct the new school and to demolish the three closed schools.   Representatives from Kiko Auctioneers auctioned off 334 lots of items, including student and teachers desks, pianos, lockers, ...
